Panel & Discussion: Puerto Ricans Fought A Pipeline AND WON!!!

  • The Murphy Institute for Worker Education and Labor Studies, CUNY 25 W 43rd St, Fl 19th, New York, New York 10036 (map)

On behalf of the members and supporters of NY Contra el Gasoducto and in continued solidarity with the people of Puerto Rico we are thrilled to invite you to the NY presentation of the book documenting the heroic, historic and victorious fight against the Via Verde gas pipeline written by Arturo Massol Deyá of Casa Pueblo de Adjuntas.

The book provides an exhaustive and exhilarating account of the strategies, tactics and collaborations involved in defeating the proposed 92-mile gas pipeline that would have wreaked havoc on communities, the environment and critical resources.

It also serves as an invaluable guide for communities around the world fighting similar projects, corrupt governments and the fossil fuel industry while reinforcing the movement led by communities that are proving every day that another world is possible by committing themselves to safe and renewable forms of energy.

Come listen to Dr. Arturo Massol share colorful and insightful strategies that were employed during this struggle. There will also be other activists and representatives from other organizations highlighting the work they continue to do around pipelines and climate change.
