Built On Bribes: Trial Of Joseph Percoco Rally Press Conference

  • Thurgood Marshall Court House 40 Foley Square New York, NY, 10007 United States (map)

Please join us first thing in the morning at 8:30-9:30am to rally in the presence of press as Governor Cuomo’s former top staffer, Joseph Percoco, goes to trial on corruption charges. Then join us to show community power inside the courtroom and join us again at the end of the day for a massive press conference.

Percoco was a senior state official who allegedly conspired with Competitive Power Ventures (CPV) Executive Peter Galbraith Kelly to help secure approvals for the massive 650 MW fracked-gas power plant under construction in Orange County that will lock NYC into fracked-gas dependency for the next 40 years.

Cuomo is also presiding over a crisis of homelessness and lack of affordable housing, helped along by Percoco’s favors to the real estate industry. Additionally, the proposal to develop low-income housing around the completed CPV plant is a clear environmental justice violation, and will not move New York to the promised just transition to a renewable economy.

The CPV power plant, located in Orange County, would burn fracked gas, pollute the air and cause further climate change catastrophes. The Cuomo Administration granted the massive gas plant the permits it needs for construction, now underway, despite its links to the bribery scandal and community protests.
