Follow up from Justin Nobel Radioactive Event

Follow up from Justin Nobel Radioactive Event

Dear attendees of the Radioactivity in the Oil & Gas Industry event last week,

First, thank you for joining us! We are so fortunate to have investigative journalists, such as Justin Nobel, accessible to us for the hard work we all do to end an extractive fossil fuel economy and move us onto a regenerative economy rooted in ecological and social well being.

I wanted to follow up with you on some action steps we mentioned at the event:

First: Watch and Share the Video of Justin's Presentation

Owen Crowley has published the video of the eventPlease share with your communities and social media network, so we can continue to build our collective knowledge, vocabulary, and proof on why we must shut this stuff down for good. Justin covered so much incredible information, and we are so grateful to Owen for this beautiful documentation.

Second: Watch and Share the Video and Website of Visualizing Pipeline Impacts

I want to make sure you have access to Jess Irish and Stephen Metts' terrific website Visualizing Pipeline Impacts. And make sure that you share their terrific video 21 Reasons Why "Natural" Gas Stinks.

Third: Help Make Laws That Stop Radioactive Fracked Gas and Frack Waste!

I want to connect you to the bills we introduced to you to fight radioactive fracked gas and fracked gas waste in New York. We need YOUR HELP to get as many co-sponsors of these bills as possible, and help push them through to make them LAW.

1. NYS Assemblymember Linda B. Rosenthal introduced the Radon BillRelates to the protection of public health from exposure to radon in natural gas; requires continuous monitoring of the level of radon in the natural gas delivered; relates to a compliance assurance system; requires public reporting. Sane Energy project knows the corporate utilities are NOT testing for radon - simply because they are not REQUIRED to. This bill would help stop the fracked gas pipelines madness in New York. We need a Senate Sponsor and co-Sponsors and a push to make this become our law. Come to the next Sane Energy meeting to stay active with us on this.

2. NYS Senator Rachel May and NYS Assemblymember Englebright introduced a bill that would close the loophole on hazardous frack waste and subject waste from oil and gas to have the same requirements as other hazardous waste. Senate Bill and Assembly Bill. We need more co-sponsors to push this through to become law. Fourth: Join the Action in Albany to Halt Cricket Valley Fracked Gas Power Plant

Monday, March 16th, in Albany: We need you! You're invited to a giant action to urge Governor Cuomo once and for all to stand up against a mega fracked gas power plant being built in beautiful Dutchess Co., the land of sweeping organic farms, to power NYC. This plant was approved on decade old climate science, and is harming our friends, our food sources, and preventing a renewable transition mandated by our climate law. Governor Cuomo's father, Gov Mario Cuomo halted Shoreham Nuclear power plant 40 years ago even though construction was completed because the people rose up and said NO. Time to repeat history. Please sign up and share the RSVP link bit.ly/stopcvethismarch to get looped in.

Check out an action we did in November that shut down construction for the whole day (video also by Owen). The singing that starts about halfway through will make you run for a box of tissues. It was a GLORIOUS day of creative people power! Let's do it again!
